We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in our Tigard, Oregon office. In this position, you will design and develop products and processes using broad engineering concepts and research techniques. You will perform product reliability testing per design specifications and facilitate transition of product designs to full production. You will make improvement to existing products as well as develop new products in order to meet customer requirements, and you will provide support to our production team. In addition, your key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop product solutions that meet customer expectations. This requires a unique balance of functional elegance, simplicity, cost, aesthetics, comfort and feel.
  • Ensure products comply with all applicable regulations for sale and use in specified applications in order to meet sales targets, domestically as well as internationally.
  • Design and develop prototypes, production tooling, test fixtures, and manufacturing methods in order to ensure product quality standards are met.
  • Resolve product function issues in order to reduce warranty expense and meet product quality goals.
  • Research and recommend suppliers and materials for new product design in order to meet new technology needs, product quality standards, and profitability goals.
  • Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply usability procedures and principles at project or product-line level or through customer input.
  • Evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate development plans.
  • Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, etc.
  • Design testing procedures and coordinate testing. Conduct tests, document and communicate results.
  • Oversee the procurement of engineering and prototype parts
  • Meet company and department objectives and follow corporate ISO 9001 QMS procedures 

As a Mechanical Engineer you have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent mic of education and experience, and a minimum of 2-3 years of direct design engineering experience. You have a strong background in plastic injection molding design, and demonstrated experience with design of complex curves and surfaces. Additional required skills include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Plastic injection molding design experience
  • Demonstrated experience in materials selection including plastics, metals, and adhesives
  • Prior experience taking a product from prototype to production implementation
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, but with solid guidance, within multi-functional groups
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and communicate conflicting priorities to management
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Preferred skills include:

  • Solidworks (Large Assemblies, Configurations, Finite Element Analysis, Complex surface modeling)
  • Experience with human focus/humanmachine interface
  • Design for industrial and waterproof applications
  • Working knowledge with project/program management
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently and within multi-functional groups
  • Experience working in a small team environment
